You'll want to keep that Friday after Thanksgiving open

There'll be a pretty big college football game that day.

I'm not about to start any online petitions one way or the other, but I suppose I'm pleased about this--it should help the game get more of the national audience IT DESERVES, and having it be the only Friday game of the season should make it feel that tiny bit more special than it already does. Good work, CBS.

ok with the Friday thing, but really wish this game was a 4:00 kick off.

.....CBS can die a General Motors-style death, with all possible agony! That's my hike Little River Canyon with the family day, there, that they've trod all over! Only high school football should be played on Friday, and only after the sun sets! Grrrrrrrr!

Whoa unto me. At first I was real excited about this post, realizing that I wouldn't have to miss the entire first half of the Iron Bowl this year. See, I live in the Knoxville market, so WVLT will typically broadcast the entire JP standoff between UK and UT no matter how out of hand it is, then follow Phil Fulmer (now Kiffykins) all over the field interviewing them, then follow Phil to the bathroom while he takes a postgame poop, before they switch over to the nationally televised CBS broadcast of the Iron Bowl. It's caused me to scream things I am not proud of at whoever I could get on the phone at WVLT a couple of times this decade.

So I was pretty happy that we won't be sharing the Iron Bowl gameday with that always exciting UT-UK game, until my wife reminded me that it will now be next to impossible to disentangle ourselves from my parents post-Thanksgiving in time for me to watch the Iron Bowl in peace. See, my pops is a huge Bammer fan, although he (suprise) didn't go to school there. I was raised to be a tahd-luver too, but followed some high school buddies to AU and fell in love with the Plains. So whether Turkey Day is here at our house, or back in Alabama at my parents house, I usually make the effort to part ways prior to Saturday. That will be much harder to do for a Friday afternoon game. I may have to start insisting we drive the 10 hours to my in-law's house in Florida for Turkey Day every year come hell or high water.

I hate posting anonymously, by the way. I wish I could remember my darned google password. Between work, the bank, and everything else, I just can't keep up with them all. TennTiger.

I'm not sure I like it. Late games (starting 4-8pm) usually have a better atmosphere and the "Iron Bowl atmosphere" is one of the things that make this game so special.
