Time to move on

I don't know if I would say that, as the (full version of the) song above goes, that under my feet, baby, the grass is growing, not when I'm still enjoying living in Ann Arbor and writing under the banner above.

But nonetheless: it's time for your humble Auburn Blogger to move on. As in "this week," and in two separate and distinct fashions:

One. Our time in Michigan is up, the Mrs. JCCW's and mine. We're moving. Over the past two days virtually all of our worldly possessions have been packed away and loaded into a large truck, and are now being driven across the country to meet us in a couple days' time. So I hope you can forgive the absence of regular posts this week, but there's been a lot of vacuuming and tub-scrubbing and such.

The destination is one I'm sure you're all familiar with: Chinle, Arizona, in the northeast corner of the state and the heart of the federal Navajo reservation. There's a few different words to describe Chinle, but "remote" might be the most apt. To answer your question: yes, I realize we're moving even further away from the Plains and my football team than we already are, and yes, this is a drawback that's been a matter of discussion in the JCCW household. (Appointments for Internet and satellite television services have long since been arranged.)

But, to cut to the quick of it: you only get so many adventures. We wanted to take another.

Two. To any of you worried about such a thing by the post title and those opening paragraphs: no, I'm not quitting. You'll be able to read the same the two or three posts a day from me this fall you got last fall, I'll still crank out the usual recaps (or something like them), there'll still be jokes at the expense of Tommy Trott's ability to block.

They just won't be in this space, exactly. Jeremy Henderson, who I hope you know as the driving force of the War Eagle Reader, is currently driving forward a new Auburn website, the kind of project that's going to bring to the Auburn community something new, something important, something fun. And the JCCW is going to be part of it.

Except that it won't be "the JCCW." It's going to be named ... wait for it ... War Blog Eagle. You'll be able to type in www.warblogeagle.com and you'll get the exact same things you've been getting for the last year-plus at that URL. It just won't be on Blogger. The only thing that's changing is the host, the look of the thing (no more white-on-black text, good news for those of you who hate it and have told me so in no uncertain terms), and the name. Oh, and that my mid-major ramblings will be moving somewhere else I haven't determined yet. Everything else: the same.

So yes, beginning next week you'll have to say good-bye to the JCCW ... but saying hello to WBE will be like saying hello to an old friend anyway. (I hope.) Tentative launch is set for Monday or Tuesday, and if you think I'm not going to take my few precious remaining days before the La. Tech previewing the hell out of things .. well, you're wrong. I'll leave it at that.

I have one more post left for this space, a kind of eulogy for the Joe Cribbs Car Wash banner I've written under for the past 3 1/2 years. It'll be done sometime early next week. See you then--here, and there.

Why in the world are you moving to a Navajo reservation in Arizona?

Well first I forced myself to watch the LSU game from last year on ESPNU Monday night and now the JCCW is toast. Well F--K! Thanks Jerry. Have fun in Navajoland Arizona. Hope it's nicer than Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Thanks for the memories. Look forward to the new site.

Good luck, Jerry. Be safe, and see you on the new site. Is change good? I'm sure it will be in this case. Take care,

I've spent a lot of time in Arizona, but not in that portion of the state. All of my time was spent in the southern portion. It's going to be a shame not having the Joe Cribbs Car Wash moniker around anymore, though. I mean WarBlogEagle is a pretty great name, but just doesn't have the pure inventiveness and eye-catching grandeur that The JCCW does. Ah well, at least the content will remain. Good luck, Jerry!

Jerry, you should seriously consider deeding the name of this blog to some deserving Auburn blogger. It's just too good to be consigned to the internet dustbin.

Good luck with the new digs, physical and blogwise.

I have been a reader for over a year now and want you to know that you are the only blog I care to read. Your level headed assessments are refreshing in the land of fandom. I will miss the JCCW in its current format but look forward to reading your stuff in the future. Thanks again.

Congrats on the move(s) and good luck Jerry. Glad to see you're not headed away from the innerwebs - you do a great job here.

Yeah, what the guy said about deeding the name "Joe Cribbs Car Wash". Coolest name for Auburn blog ever.

War Blog Eagle is cool too.

I also think that someone should be deeded the name "The Joe Cribbs Car Wash." But in the same breath those are some serious shoes to fill.

Also, when it comes to moving to an indian reservation, I feel you. I sometimes get the feeling my wife would be up in Montana working for the Indian Health Service at the slightest provocation.

Good luck in Arizona!

Do not fall into the Grand Canyon! I said gracias at the taco bar in Cammeron and the server said, "I'm Navajo". My bro laughed his ass off at that. Eat more salsa verdi and stay out of the purple club in Tempe.

I thought WER was a blog for WOMEN! Never any content there. Hope that changes.

Change is good, JH , but you are still going to get snowed this winter. God speed.

Jerry, thanks for the great website. But you are lucky to have an opportunity to live out in such a beautiful desert space. I hope you enjoy it.

Good people out there.

Thanks Jerry for all the hard work that must go into this site, and I have to admit, leaving the JCCW moniker behind makes me a little depressed. But, I will faithfully follow you to the new blog and good luck on the move. I understand how you feel, have spent time with native peoples in both Panama and in the Amazon in Brazil and it is a life changing experience. War Eagle!

I'll miss the JCCW. I was reading a really funny post on here and trying to show my boyfriend at the time. Then next thing I knew he proposed to me. He wasn't paying any attention, but I was trying to get him to read and listen to the "Girlfriend in a Coma" song from a post right before the Bama game, which was just a bit ironic. So he proposed to me at the JCCW (lol, kinda). Seriously though, I'm looking forward to no more white on black. Good luck in Navajo land!

Jerry,

Wow... I never saw this coming. Good luck to you and Jeremy. I'm looking forward to the new site. Like everyone else, I hate to see JCCW go. But I know both of you will do an awesome job on the new site. I'll be sure to tell my readers to check you guys out. War Eagle!

Will my cable provider carry War Blog Eagle? If so, this sounds like great news. Good luck.

As long as we can get our daily Auburn fix Jerry, it is all good. Your service is deeply appreciated.

Not an AU fan, but a long time Cribbs fan I started reading your blog because of the name. I have enjoyed your writing as I like to keep up with the other SEC teams. I feel that I get a realistic look at AU from this blog. Wish you and your family well in the future.

.....Honestly, I think it's a great move. We'll miss the carwash, but the War Eagle reader needed more frequent posts. Both sites had really great writing, so warblogeagle.com should be dynamite!

.....Good luck! We'll have to make sure the RSS feed stays the same...

so you know - chinle is a dry reservation. there is NO ALCOHOL within 1 hour. i have a friend who worked there for 4 weeks, and he said they have roadblocks on the weekends and evenings. be aware.

Well thank God you'll still be blogging. For a minute there I thought you were leaving the intrawebz. I read a lot of AU blogs, some with maybe more "facts" and "information", but I enjoy your blog the most.
Good luck with the move and all that.

Not to pile on, but thank you for what you do. I loved the WER but abandoned it due to frustration at the lack of action. Glad you're teaming up with them/him. Hope this gets you paid like Julio...

"...hope this gets you paid like Julio."
OMG...hilarious
Jerry, it doesn't matter where you are, the content will speak for itself and always be great.
....gotta say though, leaving the JCCW for free grabbing has to be a mistake.
I'll buy it just for the hell of it if I have to

Jerry, I thought if you left your own site you would at least join Jay at Trackemtigers.com The War Eagle Reader has been dormant for months. Hopefully you can bring it back.

Jerry, good luck with the move(s). I have no doubt the new site will be a worthy place.

I just hope you can talk the local cable company into carrying whatever they're calling the SEC network out there.

Jerry,

Thanks for the JCCW and all that you did. I was attracted to the site the first time due to the name alone. Joe Cribbs was only the second Auburn player I ever met personally - the first was when my brother introduced me to a frat brother who was "the starting quarterback" in 1970 who happened to have the same first and last name as me.

Joe's senior season was my freshman year (1979) and I still remember the thrill of seeing both him and James Brooks run the ball. It seared the image into my brain of the proto-typical Auburn running back that has echoed over the last 30 years in names like Jackson, Fullwood, Agee, Danley, James, Bostic, Johnson, Irons, Williams, Brown, etc.

Thanks for all your work on the site and good luck at TWER and in Arizona. Not all change is bad, and adventure is the key to staying young.

One last Auburn Spam e-mail. Though ya'll might like this FanHouse story about what it was like for Tony Franklin to be a gun for hire offensive coordinator. And why he sucked at it.

I have to say, as a lifelong Bama fan, JCCW has been the best Auburn blog I've ever read. Funny, geniune, and not like the other 1000 morons out there (not Auburn morons, just morons in general...just so no one gets all pissy with me) Good luck with the move, and good luck with War Blog Eagle...although I think I will have problems getting to the site because I have "Auburn", "War Eagle", "Tigers" blocked on my computer...
